No CAD package is intuitive, it’s not that they are difficult, it’s just that most people need some clear instructions explaining how the tools work – then it’s easy and interesting. Generally speaking the manual is useful once you have a reasonable overview of the software, but it is a manual, not a training book and you find it under HELP.
TurboCAD have stopped publishing printed manuals.
Training Films
I have created a set of training films to explain just the basics, how to draw a line, a circle, or whatever and how to ensure that it is exactly where you want it to be and if you want to move it, then how to do that. The set also includes an introduction on starting in 3D, again not difficult, but incomprehensible at first, these films will show you just how easy it is and below is an example film for you to watch explaining layers and printing.

While these training films are created to be used with TurboCAD, they would also be of use to anyone starting in CAD, especially in 3D with SolidWorks. SolidWorks is an excellent package, but rather expensive. TurboCAD is similar enough to enable companies to run versions of both TurboCAD and SolidWorks together and swap drawings between the packages. This can have substantial financial savings for the company and still deliver the same results.
Training Exercises
To give some insight into 2D and 3D CAD projects, I have created a series of exercises, each of which are delivered as a set of videos and a pdf file – If you’re in the UK, I also send a paper version of the pdf. Training Guides
The TurboCAD Training Guides and the TurboCAD Mac Training Essentials, lead you through exercises. If you already have some understanding of CAD software, then these could be for you, but if you are new to CAD, Then I’d recommend following these after you have been through the USB training. Each exercise starts by showing you what you will draw, then takes you through a blow by blow account of how to achieve it.
Training Courses
A couple of training courses are run most months. Numbers are limited to 5 at most, but are usually 3 people, this ensures that everyone gets all the attention they need. You are encouraged to bring along examples of what you need to draw, so that I can make sure you go away with all the information you need to solve any problem that comes your way.
Remote Help/Training via TeamViewer
For those who just have difficulty with an aspect or two of TurboCAD, say printing for example, then, we can arrange link ups using TeamViewer, for the visual and Skype or the phone for audio. We arrange a mutually convenient time and it can be at the weekend, or evening and link up. You pay initially for an hour, but this can be extended.
