Viewing my Training
If anyone can not either see or hear my training films, then you can download VLC, which is free and very efficient. I have only once had a customer who could not view with VLC, but he downloaded “File Viewer+4”, which did the trick.

Loading TurboCAD 2020
A few people have been having a problem loading the latest 2020 versions. The problem arises when you get to the page asking for your code and the activate button does not light up after you have inserted your code
One of the below operations will fix it:
Try deleting and retyping the last number or letter in the license key
Also, try placing the cursor somewhere in the license key and then move the cursor back and forth with the left – right arrow keys.
Make sure there are no empty characters in front or back of the License Key.

Clean Instal
Updating your 2019 or 2020 from Deluxe to Platinum needs you to get rid of you Deluxe first, the same can apply if you buy and load after having a trial version.
Instructions on the best way to carry this out is at the link below.

Upgrading from Deluxe to Platinum
If you upgrade from say Deluxe to Platinum within the same version of TC, you need to go to HELP – Update TurboCAD Edition.
The message on the upgrade screen is to buy an upgrade but when you press ‘buy an upgrade’, the new code screen comes up and and you are able to type in your new code, you do not have to pay any money. Confusing I know, but it works fine, (when you know).

Loading TurboCAD Mac v12
A trusted regular TC Mac user has sent me the instructions below concerning loading the new TC Mac v12. It is slightly different from the instructions for v11.
- Run TurboCAD12.app; gives the ‘Can’t run this….’ error message. Options are ‘Move to Bin’ and ‘Cancel’. Choose ‘Cancel’.
- Open System Prefs and go to Security & Privacy > General.
- Run TurboCAD12.app again. Get the same error message,
- Click ‘Cancel’ in the Error box.
- In Security & Privacy > General, click on ‘Run Anyway’
- That should open TurboCAD 12, and bring up the Activation dialog.
- Cancel out of this, and exit TurboCAD 12.
- Run TurboCAD12.app again. This will bring up the Activation dialog, which you can now complete.

At the London Model Engineering Exhibition, I met an engineer keen on taking on new 3D CAD projects.
His CV describes a degree level educated mechanical engineer, with extensive experience in the building of prototypes and electrical systems using several different CAD systems.
His contact details are below and I’m sure he would welcome enquires and be happy to forward his CV.

Defaults
TC Explorer
Most of the defaults that are standard in TurboCAD, such as the colour surround in PaperSpace, you probably don’t care about. However, others such as the text defaulting to Times New Roman are a bit annoying.
These defaults can be changed in TC Explorer, which can be found by following the path:
Tools – Customise – Pallets – TC Explorer
There’s a huge amount of ‘stuff’ here, most unintelligible to most of us, but it’s worth spending a few minutes looking through to see if there is anything obvious you’d like to change.

Copy in Place
Copy In Place
This can be a useful tool that is not where you’d expect to find it. Below is where you can find it in Platinum versions 2018 and 2019 as well as Deluxe versions.
In Platinum versions it can also be found under SDK – Selection.
Select the object to copy first, then the tool.

New Mac Operating System
New Mac Operating System
OS Catalina v10.15
TurboCAD Mac versions 11 will work with this operating system, however, there may be a warning message about the application not being able to be installed because it is not properly ‘notarized’. This can overcome by changing the security settings on the user’s machine.
First, open system preferences and security and privacy, then click on the general tab. Next open up the program and the error message will appear. Click okay on that and then look to the preferences. A message saying the program was blocked will appear with a button to open anyways.
